If a student auditions successfully, they are welcomed into The Australian Ballet School family. All ITP students continue to attend ballet training with their regular dance teachers, studying their syllabus of choice. In addition to these local ballet arrangements, they are encouraged to access The Australian Ballet School's training through the following training opportunities:
1. Personal Visits / Participation in the Melbourne-based Program
ITP students may attend the Melbourne-based program, conducted in Melbourne, during Victorian school terms for as little or as long as personal circumstances allow. For example, some students may attend for 3 consecutive days; others may visit once per month or for 2 weeks consecutively. Classes are usually held after academic hours, for 2 - 3 hours.
The ITP weekly aspect of the School’s ITP provides an avenue for discounted Personal Visits, particularly to those within Victoria who wish to make regular Personal Visits to the School. Registered students attend classes on the same day each week of a given term.
2. Specialised Coaching Classes
Specialised coaching specifically and exclusively for ITP students is conducted in most Australian capital cities once a year.
3. Intensive Training Sessions
Held at The Australian Ballet School in Melbourne during Victorian school holiday breaks, Intensive Training Sessions are designed especially to benefit the training progress of ITP students. These sessions run for four days, approximately six hours each day, on an annual basis.
The amount of participation in the ITP varies for each student, largely depending on individual family circumstances. There is no maximum limit to how often a student may access the program; however, to be considered for enrolment in each subsequent year (subject to the discretion of the Director), ITP students must participate in at least one training opportunity each year.
